Swine Flu part 2. Knee deep in excrement

Keith Scott-Mumby

Tom Philpott has a great post with aspects of this story at grist.org [http://www.grist.org/article/2009-04-25-swine-flu-smithfield] There is also, as of today (May 1st) a good entry in Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_swine_flu_outbreak] There are two reasons why this swine flu outbreak (let’s not call 150 or so deaths a “pandemic” or even epidemic, yet) could have started in Mexico. 1.As Mark Sircus (International Medical Veritas Association) points out: In Mexico City children rarely use the color blue when they paint the sky. The atmospheric pollution in the Mexican capital, one of the world’s biggest cities, is one of the most severe air pollution cases in the world. Contaminated air hangs over its population of more than 20 million people doing damage to children’s lungs causing chronic lung diseases when they are adults. Perched at 7,300 feet in a bowl-shaped valley where the air is thin, vehicle fumes get trapped and you might as well be living in a gas chamber. It is that bad and this explains in part why we are finding deaths from the flu concentrated there with no deaths reported outside of Mexico to this date. Even the healthy are sick. Full of toxins, they are medically speaking “accidents waiting to happen,” so when a strong flu strain strikes such a population the death rate will be very high. The cause of death is debatable! 2.Most of the initial severe cases appear to be centered on a hog farm owned by Smithfield Foods in the immediate area. Smithfield Food, the world’s largest pork packer and hog producer, operates massive hog-raising operations Perote, Mexico, in the state of Vera Cruz, where the outbreak originated. According to the locals, the organic and fecal waste produced by Granjas Carrol isn’t adequately treated, creating water and air pollution in the region. Residents have long complained of “fetid odors” in the air and water, and swarms of flies hovering around waste lagoons of shit and hog urine. The Mexico City daily La Jornada has also made the link. According to the newspaper, the Mexican health agency IMSS has acknowledged that the orginal carrier for the flu could be the “clouds of flies” that multiply in the Smithfield subsidiary’s manure lagoons.

Swine flu outbreak. The truth is ugly.

Keith Scott-Mumby

Unless you live on Planet Zod (somewhere the other side of the galaxy), you will know there is growing international concern, amounting almost to panic, that we are facing a deadly worldwide pandemic of swine flu. The actual figures, as of today Apr. 27th, are: 1,614 cases and 103 deaths (not all confirmed as swine flu). After years of trying to will into existence a pandemic of avian flu, the media loonies have finally got what they wanted: something to scream and wring their hands about, trying to induce fear and despair in the population they seek to mind-control. There is nothing the media likes more than fear and panic. They try to create it, every day, in the news and on television. Living here in the USA, I laugh sometimes. If there is nothing to be scared of that day, they drag up past miseries, instead of saying “It’s been a great day folks. Go home and sleep peacefully”. In the hurricane season, if nothing is blowing in, they run stories of past hurricanes, over and over and over, just in case the population should relax and start to behave normally. That said, the media in the USA is almost totally censored by control from the owners. The population is told there are dangers and threats on every hand. They are NOT told that most of this hysteria is full-on lies and counterfeit stories. They are CERTAINLY not told that there are plenty of solutions to the dangers posed. What lies hidden, covered up by your leaders, can certainly cause trouble and even kill you.

Gratitude: Find The Good In Everything!

Keith Scott-Mumby

I always cringe a bit with the gratitude seekers. It’s a semantic thing; we agree on what we are each looking for. I just don’t think of gratitude. I prefer to think in terms of seeking the good in everything. Not QUITE the same as gratitude. But there is always something good in your day, […]

eSchizophrenia

Keith Scott-Mumby

On some days, I think that nothing good ever comes out of computers! But here’s something… Schizophrenia is still one of the most stigmatized medical conditions. Most people are distinctly uncomfortable being present with patients who carry on conversations with imaginary voices in their head. Modern drugs suppress many of the disturbing symptoms, such as […]

New fertility treatment promised

Keith Scott-Mumby

Infertility is a true medical problem that haunts many couples. I’ve made my mark over the years, with sound nutrition. One of my allergy patients actually got pregnant after she stopped her allergy foods. But most of the advances (maybe not the right word) have come from powerful hormonal interventions, such as the drug Clomiphen. It is heavy-handed and notorious for getting multiple pregnancies. This to me is a bad thing: a woman who Nature has declared a poor reproducer should not be given the sudden burden of 4,5 or 6 simultaneous offspring. Nutrition and lifestyle changes remain top of my list of necessary and worthwhile approaches to rectifying infertility. But here’s something new on the way!
