american cancer society wrong but staying wrong

Keith Scott-Mumby

The American Cancer Society says it is not currently rethinking its stance on cancer screening, as was widely reported last week. Nor do they intend to restate their guidelines to emphasize the inadequacies of screening. It remains a sales hype document for a totally discredited procedure which Prof. Sam Epstein MD has condemned as “a crime against humanity”.

antibiotic age is over

Keith Scott-Mumby

It’s over! The truth is, the comfortable world as we have known it for the last 60 years is coming rapidly to an end. Bacteria are deadly and the short period of time where we were able to control them is vanishing fast. Even as you read this, a new strain could be emerging somewhere, […]

Bisphenol Also Causes Aggression

Keith Scott-Mumby

Unless you have lived on Mars these last few years, you will know the mounting concern over bisphenol A, a primary ingredient in plastics. In Letter From Serendipity issue #14 I reported on a straight bribe to get it through safety challenges with the FDA. Nobody in their right mind could possibly interpret the current science as showing bisphenol A (BPA) is safe. Abundant studies have shown it to be deadly. But of course the FDA has ignored the science and followed the money (bribes).

Strep and OCD? The fumblings of science.

Keith Scott-Mumby

Sometimes knowledge and certainty is not easy to come by. You may have seen a recent breakfast piece in the USA, about a boy who had OCD (quite severe) but it turned out to be the consequence of a strep sore throat. Sep 24th, see the OCD video here. His mother Beth Alison Maloney wrote a book about the journey back to wellness, Saving Sammy: Curing the Boy Who Caught OCD. It’s a powerful story, not least because Sammy could have been a prisoner for life of this dreadful incapacitating condition; but by chance his mother hit on the cure, when the family doctors missed it.

Home Test For Omega-3 Status?

Keith Scott-Mumby

Forget about cholesterol; we NEED cholesterol. Forget about saturated fats; we NEED saturated fats. What is vital for health is to have enough GOOD fats. None are better than omega-3s, the brain and heart preservers. Omega-3s block inflammation of all kinds and so are vital for protecting aging joints, skin and connective tissue. Where there is redness and pain, omega-3s work like soothing salve! Now you can get your omega-3s lab tested with a simple take-home kit that allows consumers to measure their own omega-3 levels.

A Case Of Possession Or Strange Epilepsy?

Keith Scott-Mumby

Here is a recent news story that stimulated my rebellious “otherwise” brain cells. A 37-year old woman in Germany has strange epileptic seizures: she feels she has turned into a man. This is accompanied by a deeper and more masculine voice and even her arms have grown hairier over time. MRI scans revealed damage to the woman’s right amygdala, a tiny little almond-shaped group of nerve cells at the base of the brain, known to be associated with mood and emotions (amydala is Greek for the almond). There’s more: EEG electrodes recorded abnormal activity in the surrounding right temporal lobe, suggesting that this region is the source of her seizures. What are called “temporal lobe seizures” are notorious for causing strange disorientation, sensations of déjà vu or jamais vu (unfamiliarity in everyday surroundings) and even past life recall.
