Chemical Overload – The Biggest Cause of Alzheimer’s Disease

Keith Scott-Mumby

I first wrote that the main – and ignored – cause of Alzheimer’s was chemical overload back in 1988 in a book I published through Harper Collins.  A lot of time went by before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon (but at least they’re here)! Trace chemicals in your environment can damage brain function.  Over […] The post Chemical Overload – The Biggest Cause of Alzheimer’s Disease appeared first on Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby.

What Causes Alzheimer’s Disease?

Keith Scott-Mumby

Back To I Told ‘Em Again, for newcomers, I should explain that I ran an occasional column in my newsletters entitled “I told ‘em!” So many times in my writings and teachings I was saying things years, or even decades, ahead of the pack. Like “earthing” (aka. “grounding”) for example. Stephen Sinatra MD claims to […]

Keith Scott-Mumby

Sometimes you have a gut feeling about things. It’s happened to all of us. You don’t need all the facts about a situation to act. You instinctively know what to do. That Amazing Vitamin D Stuff Again!

Keith Scott-Mumby

You really CANNOT afford to go short of vitamin D. Remember, it’s silly cheap, so there is no need to skimp. You can get 5,000 IU (plenty for an adult), 240 caps, for under $8 if you Google it! Take only D3, by the way, not the very inferior form of D2. Vitamin D2 was […]

Can Algae Stop Alzheimer’s?

Keith Scott-Mumby

A new study from Tohoku University, Japan, suggests it might just do that! More exactly, a compound in algae called astaxanthin, a powerful anti-oxidant obtained from algae. Note that whenever you see “xanth-“ it’s from a Greek word meaning yellow. Zeaxanthin is another yellow compound, part of the green color of leaves. Along with Lutein […]

Miracle Vitamin D In The Headlines AGAIN

Keith Scott-Mumby

Yet another study, published in the September 25, 2012, issue of Neurology, has linked low vitamin D levels with significant health issues — in this case, poor cognition. People with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) had lower concentrations of vitamin D than those without AD, and better cognitive test results were linked to higher vitamin D concentrations. According to the main author, Cynthia Balion, PhD, a clinical biochemist and associate professor, Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the results provide sufficient evidence to warrant further investigation to determine whether a cause-and-effect relationship exists. She’s right, of course. Just because the two are associated, doesn’t mean low vitamin D causes cognitive problems. It might mean, for example, that people with malabsorption (a common problem, due to bowel inflammation) are short of all nutrients and because of the inflammatory process also get Alzheimer’s—essentially a disease of brain inflammatory decay. You’ll learn more about this brain and gut connection in my book Fire In The Belly. I was a pioneer in this area in the 1980s and 1990s.
