Drunk Teen Driver Busts Open A Baby

Keith Scott-Mumby

I apologize for this headline, like “News Of The World” or “The National Enquirer” do them. But they do it for a reason, which is to grab attention by being shocking or revolting. This is a story that moved me greatly and I feel impelled to share it. A few days ago, we had our […]

the best antibiotic is no antibiotic

Keith Scott-Mumby

Just a note to say one of the best antibiotics is no antibiotic. And that includes alternatives! A review published in JAMA has found that using antibiotics for ear infections in children is no better than just giving the kiddies pain relief. Antibiotics did produce some slight benefit but this was lost when side effects like diarrhea and rash were factored in. Researchers say the review, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, shows the merit of a watch-and-wait approach to managing ear infections. Based on their review of more than 100 studies published over the last decade, the researchers were able to quantify the risks and benefits of treatment with antibiotics. They estimated that for every 100 otherwise healthy children with uncomplicated middle ear infections, about 80 could be expected to improve without antibiotics within about three days.

Fake Science, Corruption, Microwaves and Deadly Danger

Keith Scott-Mumby

A few days ago I went to San Francisco to attend an important symposium on the health effects of EMF fields. It was organized by my friend Camilla Rees. She’s one of the key US activists in this area and a very nice lady too. We attended at the Commonwealth Club,  a name that intrigued me, as a Brit; we started the Commonwealth – two of them in fact: the original one under Oliver Cromwell (it ran from 1649- 1660) and the present affiliation of former UK colonies round the world, presides over (not ruled over) by HRH Queen Elizabeth. It’s just a name that means the common good, or common weal… (Old English wele, related to the word well, and well-being) Camilla assembled some really interesting experts. Each spoke in bites of only 15 minutes, which was very novel and satisfying. Scheduling was very tight and we got through a deal of valuable material, without the usual interminable waffle that drives ADDs like me crazy.

Autism, The Misery and Uncertainty Continues

Keith Scott-Mumby

Those who have been my subscribers any length of time know where I stand on the mercury-autism link. There isn’t one! Now a new study has shown yet again that exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines in infancy or in the womb is not associated with an increased risk for developing autism. Of course mere facts and good science don’t worry the Internet “experts”, who ramble on about conspiracies to hide the truth, as if every scientist and doctor in the world was a corrupted puppet of Big Pharma. They have their prejudice and are not going to let mere evidence sway them from their rigid views. The fact is, as I have said often, kids get autism who have never had any vaccinations, never mind whether with mercury or not. Moreover there is the problem of explaining why boys have a far higher incidence of autism than girls. That suggests genes are at least partly involved. Mercury should not selectively attack one gender or the other.

hypertension diet prevents kidney stones

Keith Scott-Mumby

Here’s quick note to extend the material in my book on kidney health “The Waters Of Life”. By coincidence a study was published the week after my report (Sept 2010). It showed that the blood pressure diet known as DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), was also good at preventing kidney stones! The DASH diet […]
